Vinh Huy has had a complicated few years – it may now be operating as a spa rather than a hotel, so confirm before you book or you will be hunting for a bed at short notice with your luggage on the pavement. If it is still taking guests, it sits about a kilometre from the Ancient Town, which is walkable but not ideal when it is 35 degrees and you have a suitcase.
Rooms are basic and small. Air conditioning remotes go missing, TVs are unreliable, and the bathrooms have not always been at their best. The online photos are optimistic – the staff have been known to say so themselves at check-in, which is at least candid.
There is a loyal contingent who have stayed here annually for years and find it does the job for a budget overnight. If that sounds like you, fine. If you need reliable in-room amenities, consistent cleanliness, or any confidence that the place will still be a hotel when you arrive, look elsewhere on the same street.
