A small drinks stall tucked into an alley that does one thing nobody else in Hoi An bothers with: selling thuốc lào, the sharp Vietnamese pipe tobacco that locals have been smoking since before the Ancient Town was ancient. It’s less a cafe in any sit-down sense and more a neighbourhood convenience stop with a friendly face behind the counter. If you smoke thuốc lào or want to try it, this is your only real option in town.
Tobacco packets run 10,000 VND – basically nothing. The trà mạn (unprocessed green tea) is the kind of bitter, no-frills brew you get at a roadside stall, not a specialty tea house. The spot sits in an alley near Viet Town restaurant; there’s a sign, but you’ll still walk past it once.
This is purely a local-use stop. If you’re a tourist hunting a polished cafe experience, wrong door. But if you smoke pipe tobacco, or you’re curious what an unglamorous neighbourhood stall looks like versus the lantern-lit tourist version of Hoi An, it’s worth the two minutes it takes to find.
