August Coffee is a small, quiet spot right by the beach in Cua Dai, run by a hardworking owner who greets regulars by name. It’s the kind of place you fall into a daily routine with, especially if you’re staying nearby, given the calm setting and the quality of the coffee. Oat milk lattes, americanos, and the salted coffee stand out, along with coconut iced coffee and a coconut matcha that works well ordered without sugar.
The banh mi is a real draw, particularly the chicken and egg versions, though the bacon and egg option could use more salt and evener sauce distribution. A banh mi and coffee combo runs around 45K VND. They also run a same-day laundry service that comes back clean and dry by evening. Opening hours are inconsistent though the place lists itself as open daily – don’t be shocked if you show up on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday and find it shut.
This beats the coffee at most nearby resorts by a wide margin, which is exactly why it fills up with westerners staying at Hoi An Beach Resort across the road. Skip the stale-bread version of the banh mi if you get unlucky, but the coffee alone justifies a stop. Go early and have a backup plan in case the door’s locked.
