Son Trang Hotel Hoi An
Description
Son Trang sits about a five-minute walk from the Ancient Town, which puts you close enough to roll out of bed and be eating cao lau in minutes. The family rooms are large – not ‘large for Vietnam’ large, but actually large – and the front desk staff go well beyond pointing at a map, arranging airport pickups and grab rides at prices that won’t make you wince.
Bicycles are available for guests, which is the correct way to get around Hoi An. Check the tyres before you leave (some reviewers found them flat, and that walk of shame back to the hotel is avoidable).
There’s no lift, so pack light or make peace with hauling your bag up stairs. A few guests have flagged musty smells in rooms, which is a real concern in a town that floods regularly – worth keeping in mind if you’re sensitive to that.
Highlights
- Family rooms are spacious and work well for groups of four
- Front desk staff are consistently helpful - arranging transport, recommending restaurants, and sorting grab rides
- Free bicycle loans included for guests
- Some rooms have had musty or drainage smells, particularly after flooding - a known issue in Hoi An but worth noting
