Coconut Boat & Cafe Hoi An

Description

Mrs An runs coconut boat rides through the palm-lined waterways outside Hoi An, and the whole operation has a genuine family-run feel. The boat ride itself takes 35-40 minutes, with a stretch through bamboo forest before things open up onto the wider river. She also does Vietnamese cooking classes after the ride, which several families have called the highlight of the whole trip.

The cafe serves egg coffee that people actually talk about, which is not something you can say about most activity-attached cafes. If you come for the boat and stick around to cook and eat with An, you will leave full and happy.

Be aware that on the water there can be pressure to pay extra for boat spins (100k VND) or karaoke. Knowing this upfront makes it easy to just say no and enjoy the ride.
