Lantern shop
Description
A small lantern shop where the owner – Ba – runs hands-on lantern-making classes out of the same space she sells from. You can walk in off the street with zero plan and leave an hour later with a lantern you made yourself. That spontaneous format works surprisingly well.
Ba is the whole operation here, and she’s the reason people come back for a second class the same day (it happens, apparently). She’s patient, checks your work as you go, and keeps things light. The classes are priced reasonably enough that buying extra lanterns to take home feels like a natural next step.
The shop sits a bit away from the most crowded part of the old town, which makes the experience feel less rushed. Good for families with young kids – reviewers have done this with 5-year-olds and it held their attention.
Highlights
- Walk-in friendly - no advance booking required, classes happen spontaneously
- Pricing is consistently described as fair and reasonable
- Works well for families, including young children
- The shop is small, so larger groups may feel a bit cramped
