Description

Restaurant JAN does one thing and does it better than almost anywhere else in Hoi An: bánh xèo. The sizzling rice crepes come out thin, properly crispy, and cooked over charcoal – and the owner will personally show you how to wrap and eat them if you need a tutorial (most first-timers do).

The menu is short on purpose. You get bánh xèo, a couple of meat skewers, fried spring rolls, and fresh carrot juice. That’s roughly it. Order the full platter for two and you have a complete meal without any decision fatigue.

This is a family-run spot with an open kitchen, plastic stools, and zero pretension. The kind of place where the food tastes like someone actually cares about it – because they do.

Highlights

Insider Tip
Order the full platter and ask the owner to show you the wrapping technique - it changes how the dish eats, and she seems happy to do it every single time.
Pros
- Bánh xèo that multiple visitors call the best they've eaten anywhere in Vietnam
- Owner takes time to teach you how to wrap and eat the dishes properly
- Everything cooked fresh to order, ingredients visibly high quality

Cons
- The menu is deliberately minimal - if you're not into bánh xèo or DIY roll-your-own eating, this isn't your spot
- Pacing can be uneven; at least one visitor found the sauces arrived after the food had cooled
