Hoi An Silk Marina Resort & Spa
Description
Silk Marina sits right on the Thu Bon River, close enough to the Ancient Town that you can walk there in under ten minutes, but far enough that you’ll actually sleep. The rooms are large (not ‘large for Vietnam’ large – just large), and the river-view rooms on higher floors are worth requesting specifically. Room 211 gets called out by name in reviews, which tells you something about the consistency of the fit-out.
The pool is the real selling point here – three connected areas at different depths, a swim-up bar, and cabanas that apparently never hit capacity. The buffet breakfast draws serious repeat praise, which in a town full of middling hotel breakfasts is not nothing. Bikes are available for guests, which matters when you want to reach the beaches or villages without negotiating with every xe om driver on the street.
A small number of rooms have had damp smell issues – river-adjacent properties in a humid climate, it happens. The staff response when it came up was to immediately offer a room swap, which is the right call. If something feels off when you check in, just ask.
Highlights
- Buffet breakfast gets consistent, specific praise across many stays
- Pool setup - three areas, swim-up bar, uncrowded cabanas - is well above average
- Walking distance to the Ancient Town (7-10 minutes), but quiet enough to feel removed from it
- Depending on which side of the property you're on, the walk to the old quarter feels longer at night
