The Lantern House

Rita runs this lantern-making workshop out of a calm, residential-feeling spot away from the tourist circus on the main streets. You build the lantern yourself from start to finish – frame, fabric, the works – and walk away with something that actually holds up at home (one reviewer is putting theirs in their office with a light, which tells you something about the quality).

The session runs about an hour and Rita is the whole operation: teacher, host, and quality control. She’s worked with young kids, deaf visitors, and nervous adults who’ve never touched a bamboo frame in their life. The patience level here is genuinely high, not just politely tolerant.
