Thanh Hà Terracotta Park
Description
Thanh Hà Terracotta Park is a ceramics museum and outdoor park dedicated to the 500-year-old pottery tradition of Thanh Hà village, just outside the old town. The entry fee is 50,000 VND and gets you into the main park grounds, which are large enough to genuinely tire your legs out after two hours of wandering.
The experience lives or dies by whether you get Ly as your guide. She runs free guided tours of the museum and multiple reviews single her out by name for being funny, enthusiastic, and adaptable for non-native English speakers. Without a guide, some visitors find the place short on context and feel the ticket staff can be misleading about what’s included.
The surrounding village is worth factoring in. The small pottery studios nearby where locals actually work are quieter, cheaper, and often more satisfying than the main park itself.
Highlights
- The grounds are large and worth at least two hours of exploration
- Staff across the park are described as welcoming and enthusiastic
- The museum building itself is architecturally interesting, with notable interior details
- Some visitors find the 50,000 VND entry overpriced relative to what's on display
