This is a one-man operation in the old town where the paintings on the wall are actually painted by the owner, Ry, frames and all. It suits anyone who wants a coffee stop that doesn’t feel like every other cafe in Hoi An, and travelers who like buying art directly from the person who made it rather than from a shop reselling someone else’s work.
Order the salt coffee, a standard black coffee runs around 17k VND and the salt coffee about 30k, cheap next to the 50-60k versions sold nearby. The fresh milk iced coffee has a dark chocolate edge worth trying, and there’s a salted matcha latte too, on the sweet side. Seating is mostly street-facing stools rather than an indoor room, good for watching old town foot traffic go by. Oat milk is available and reasonably priced. Note the attached cafe has had closures at times when Ry’s partner, who usually runs it, isn’t around, so hours can shift.
Ry himself is a character, chatty, been a singer in another life, happy to talk about the paintings if you’re interested in buying one. Skip it if you need a full sit-down indoor cafe or an espresso-based menu, since coffee here leans pour-over. Go if you want a quiet break from the crowds and maybe a painting to take home.
