Description

This is one of the oldest Chinese congregation halls in Hoi An Ancient Town, built in the 17th century by Fujian traders who settled along the river. It suits anyone walking the old town who wants a break from shopping streets and a look at how the Chinese merchant community shaped this port city. The carved gates, dragon motifs, and incense-filled courtyards make it an easy stop between meals or riverside walks.

Entry requires a ticket, usually covered by the Hoi An Ancient Town heritage ticket sold at booths around the old quarter rather than at the door itself. Plan on about 20 minutes to walk through the front hall, courtyard, and rear altar rooms dedicated to the sea goddess Thien Hau. Mornings right after opening are quiet, with soft light through the courtyard and almost no one else around; by midday the halls fill with tour groups.

Compare it to the other assembly halls in town and this one edges out most for the detail in its restoration and the weight of its carvings. Skip the late morning rush if you want photos without crowds. History lovers and photographers get the most out of it; if you’ve already seen two or three other assembly halls, this can feel repetitive.
