Baker Street
Description
Baker Street sits on Hai Ba Trung and does the dual menu thing better than most – Vietnamese staples like pho and cao lau alongside Western breakfasts and shakshuka, with enough hits across both to justify repeat visits. The mango smoothie and signature lemonades (brewed from real tea) are genuinely worth ordering, and the patisserie is more creative than you’d expect from a cafe in this price range.
The space is clean, roomy, and well-ventilated with indoor, outdoor, and open-kitchen seating. Good Wi-Fi and a no-rush policy as long as you order makes it a workable spot for laptops. Card payments accepted, which is still not a given in Hoi An.
The English Breakfast has drawn criticism for small portions and lukewarm meat – stick to the Vietnamese dishes, the shakshuka, or the vegetarian banh mi (tofu and fresh peanuts, the best version several regulars have found in town). Families with kids eat here multiple times a week without complaint, which tells you something.
