Bánh Mì Bà Nga

Description

A street stall doing bánh mì the way it should be done: fast, fresh, and cheap at 30,000 VND a sandwich. The kind of place where people who spend serious time eating their way through Vietnam end up declaring it the best one they had in the whole country (and some of these people were eating 25 bánh mì in three days, so they have opinions).

The elderly owners run the show with genuine warmth, and the egg bánh mì in particular lands softer and more nuanced than the sauce-heavy assembly suggests it will. Worth knowing: a woman from a nearby clothing shop sometimes swoops in to take orders as if she works here. She does not. Just wave her off and order directly.

Highlights

Insider Tip
Order directly from the elderly owners only - if a woman approaches you first, she's selling clothes from the shop next door, not making your sandwich.
Pros
'- Multiple reviewers across different nationalities rate it the best bánh mì they had in all of Vietnam
- Prices are low even by Hoi An standards (30,000 VND)
- Everything is made fresh to order
- The owners are consistently described as warm and friendly
Cons
- Quality and pricing can vary depending on who is serving that day
- A clothing tout nearby poses as staff and intercepts orders, which is annoying
