Cargo Club Cafe & Restaurant
Description
Cargo Club sits on the riverfront and earns its reputation on Western-leaning comfort food done better than you’d expect in a tourist town. The beef sandwich and lobster spaghetti are the real orders here – skip the garlic bread they’ve inexplicably renamed ‘garlic pizza’ and anything that sounds like it belongs on a fusion experiment gone wrong.
The second-floor terrace is the whole point. You’re looking out over the Thu Bon River, and if you time it right with the full moon lantern festival, it’s worth planning around. Book that terrace in advance (seriously, it fills up fast, especially with Japanese tourists who’ve done their homework).
This is a solid pick for people who need a break from banh mi and pho, or for travelling with someone who panics at a menu without pasta on it. Prices run higher than the surrounding local spots, so know what you’re getting into.
Highlights
- Western comfort food - sandwiches, burgers, pasta - executed reliably well
- Staff consistently described as friendly and attentive
- Vietnamese classics like white rose and fried wontons hold their own alongside the Western menu
- Quality is inconsistent - some dishes (looking at the dumplings) fall well short of the hits
