Description

La Hối Park sits along the Thu Bồn River and works best as a slow-morning or late-afternoon spot rather than a destination in itself. Free outdoor fitness equipment draws the early crowd for calisthenics and tai chi, while the stone benches fill up with older locals chatting after their walk. It’s genuinely functional public space, not a tourist attraction dressed up as one.

Sunset here is the real draw – the light hits the old town rooftops across the water and the whole scene turns properly orange-red. Come around 5pm and stake out a bench facing the river (the good ones go fast to regulars who’ve clearly been doing this for years).

The park connects easily to the night market strip, so an evening here can roll naturally into dinner without planning anything. Paths are wide and paved, which matters if you’re with older family members or small kids.

Highlights

Insider Tip
Show up just before 5pm, walk to the river-facing benches on the eastern end, and wait for the sun to drop behind the old town - it reads much better from here than from the tourist waterfront across the bridge.
Pros
- Free outdoor fitness stations used by locals every morning for calisthenics and tai chi
- Clean, wide paved paths that work well for all ages including elderly visitors and young children
- Plenty of shaded seating and stone benches spread around the park
- Riverside sunset views looking toward the old town are genuinely worth timing a visit around
Cons
- Only 19 reviews exist, so the full picture of drawbacks is limited
- Can get busy with groups taking photos on weekends, which breaks the calm atmosphere regulars come for
