Cyclo Café et Áo Dài
Description
A small café in the heart of the old town that does the Vietnamese coffee classics properly – salt coffee, coconut coffee, and an actual intense espresso for those tired of weak tourist-trap brews. The cyclo seats and lantern ceiling make it one of the more photogenic spots in the area (yes, everyone does take the same photo, and no, that doesn’t make it less fun). You can also rent áo dài here for both men and women if you want to wander the old town in traditional dress.
The upstairs is quiet and peaceful, with jazz playing at a volume that doesn’t demand your attention. Staff are consistently warm without being pushy, which is rarer than it should be around this part of town.
Drinks are cheap by any measure, and the menu leans creative – the ‘Green and Clean’ juice (number 27) gets called out specifically by regulars. One reviewer mentioned waiting a bit for drinks, so don’t come if you’re in a hurry.
