Hang and Dung run a lantern-making class out of their shop on the edge of the old town, and it’s one of the more worthwhile tourist activities you’ll do here. You choose your frame shape and fabric colors, they walk you through assembly and painting, and you leave with something you actually made (it collapses flat for your bag, which matters more than you think).

Pricing is straightforward: 120,000 VND per activity, so painting plus frame-building is 240,000 VND total. That gets you about an hour of instruction, some snacks, and a small gift. No booking required, just walk in.

Hang and Dung themselves are patient teachers who speak enough English to get you through the process without frustration. They’re especially good with kids and groups who have zero craft experience.
