Hoi An Golden Kitchen Restaurant & Coffee
Description
A quieter spot away from the tourist crush, Golden Kitchen does solid Vietnamese food in calmer surroundings than most places in the old town. The banana pancake with ice cream gets specific praise, and when the owner is running the floor personally, the experience is noticeably better.
The cocktails are a problem. The 2-for-1 deals sound great until you taste them – weak, flavorless, and not worth ordering even at half price. Stick to coffee or a simple Vietnamese meal and you’ll leave happier than someone who showed up expecting a decent mojito.
Service is inconsistent. Some visits you get the owner’s full attention; others the staff seems checked out entirely (Sunday in particular has been rough, apparently). Go for food, skip the drinks menu.
