Long Cơm Gà Chicken Rice Restaurant
Description
Com Ga is the dish Hoi An does better than anywhere else in Vietnam, and Long Com Ga is a solid place to eat it. The chicken is poached, shredded, and served over turmeric-tinged rice with a bowl of broth on the side – the whole thing costs you around 55,000 VND and takes maybe five minutes to arrive.
The restaurant sits one minute off the main tourist drag on a quiet side street, which means the atmosphere is calm instead of performatively calm. Orchids, good music, attentive staff who will actually explain how to eat the dish properly if you ask.
A note on the gà xíu (soy-braised chicken): a few people find it salty and a bit dry compared to the shredded poached version. Stick to the classic com ga xe and use the broth to balance things out.
Highlights
- Prices are low for a filling meal in the old town
- Service is friendly and staff will walk you through the dish if you're unfamiliar
- The side-street location keeps it quieter and cooler than nearby spots
- Prices and surcharges spike noticeably during Tết and holidays, which has frustrated some local diners
