MẸT Hội An
Description
MẸT sits on the river side of Hoi An’s old town and pulls off something most tourist-area restaurants don’t: the food is actually good. The menu runs from Vietnamese classics like pho bo and cao lau to a solid vegetarian selection, and the grilled fish is worth ordering if it’s on. Two floors means you can grab a river view upstairs (worth it).
The staff here are the real reason this place gets repeat visits. Wolf, Emma, Max, and Tracy show up in reviews constantly – not as a vague ‘great service’ footnote but by name, which tells you something. Service is fast and the team seems to genuinely like being there.
Vegetarians won’t feel like an afterthought. The mushroom soup and Vietnamese pancake have fans, and the ginger tea comes with little bean cakes on the side (a nice touch that costs them nothing and makes you feel looked after).

- River view from the second floor is worth requesting
- Vietnamese classics like pho bo and grilled fish land well, not just tourist approximations
- Central location means it's busy; don't expect a quiet corner on peak evenings
