Orivy Restaurant
Description
Orivy is a family-run spot serving proper Hoi An cooking – white rose dumplings, banh xeo, pho, set menus with banana pancakes – at prices that make eating here six times in a week feel completely reasonable. Tam and his wife run the place with the kind of warmth that means he’ll wave at you from across the street after your first visit (which is either charming or slightly alarming, depending on your disposition).
The white rose dumplings are the standout order. Fresh shrimp, tender wrappers, made properly – not the tired version you’ll find three doors down. The vegetarian options are good too, with portions that suggest nobody here is trying to upsell you on extra dishes.
It fills up fast, especially in the evening. The space is cool and airy, which matters more than it sounds when you’ve been walking the old town in the heat.
Highlights
- friendly, welcoming family service - owners remember returning guests
- Strong vegetarian options with generous portions
- Fair prices for the quality and quantity of food
- Mango juice apparently doesn't match the standard of the other fresh drinks
