PlantLab Restaurant
Description
PlantLab is a fully plant-based restaurant with a shaded garden out back, where the cooking leans creative rather than compensatory. The kitchen makes its own cheeses, ferments, and sauces from scratch – the tofu feta in the quinoa salad and the homemade cheese on the chewy pizza are the kind of details that make you notice the effort. This is not a place serving sad salads to reluctant vegetarians.
The menu covers a lot of ground: Vietnamese-influenced dishes, smoothies, brunch options like scrambled tofu and pancakes, and desserts worth ordering on their own (the raw cacao cheesecake is the move). Food takes a little time to arrive because it is actually being made, not reheated. Budget for patience.
The staff are consistently warm and seem genuinely pleased when people come back, which happens a lot here. Gluten-free diners are catered for, and the garden seating under the jackfruit tree is where you want to sit.
Highlights
- Garden seating that is cool, green, and easy to spend an hour in
- Food works for non-vegans just as well - no one at the table feels like a hostage to someone else's dietary choices
- Staff are warm and attentive without being hovering
- Menu skews healthy, so if you want something indulgent and oily, this is the wrong address
