Ravens Wine Bar
Description
Ravens is a proper wine bar run by Mark, an owner who knows his list and will walk you through it without being precious about it. The selection goes well beyond the token ‘international wines’ you find elsewhere in Hoi An – think German Rieslings, quality Pinot Noir, Italian bottles you’d actually recognize. Crucially, they pour by the glass, which is rarer here than it should be.
It sits just outside the Ancient Town, which means slightly less foot traffic but also a calmer atmosphere by the canal. The cheese and charcuterie boards are worth ordering alongside your second glass (and there will be a second glass).
This suits anyone who’s been eating pho for a week and needs a different kind of evening. The solo traveler showing up at a quiet hour will get the owner’s full attention, which is either ideal or slightly awkward depending on your personality.
Highlights
- Pours by the glass, letting you try multiple varieties in one sitting
- Wine selection is impressive for Hoi An, with solid European options
- Cheese and charcuterie boards make it a full stop, not just a drink
- Can be very quiet depending on timing, which changes the atmosphere considerably
