Restaurant 328 is a family-run spot doing the Hoi An classics well – cao lau, pho, fish in claypot, lemongrass chicken – at prices that won’t make you wince. The owner, Hieu, is hands-on in a way that actually matters: multiple people mention him coming out personally to make things right, which is rarer than it should be.

The food is traditional and the portions are solid. Pho gets called out specifically as some of the best in Vietnam, which is a bold claim, but the reviews back it up consistently enough to take seriously.

Service is warm without being performative – the kind of place where you end up chatting with the staff rather than just being processed through a meal. Good for easing into Hoi An’s local food scene if you’re just arriving, and worth repeat visits if you’re staying a while.
