Tháng Hai Hoian
Description
Tháng Hai (February, in Vietnamese) is a small coffee shop where the owner draws portraits of customers while they drink their coffee. That’s not a gimmick – the drawings are apparently good enough to move people to tears (multiple reviews, different languages, same reaction).
The coffee lineup centers on two house options: Saigon Coffee, which runs acidic and bright, and Hoi An Coffee, which is the safer crowd-pleaser. The owner will steer you toward the right one if you describe what you’re after. Air conditioning inside makes it a legitimate refuge from the afternoon heat.
This is a one-person show, which means the service is either the whole point or a potential bottleneck depending on how busy it gets. Come for a slow morning, not when you’re in a rush.
Highlights
- Coffee is well-priced and the owner gives honest recommendations based on your taste preferences
- Air-conditioned interior makes it a solid working or conversation spot
- Owner consistently described as warm, funny, and attentive
- Being a solo-run spot, the personal experience could vary if it gets busy
