Hoian Farmers Restaurant & Cooking School

Description

Ti and the family run this one out of their actual home, which immediately makes it feel different from the hotel cooking class circuit. You walk the market first, then visit the organic farm, then cook four dishes you’ll eat as lunch – the kind of logical sequence that makes the whole thing feel like a day with locals rather than a ticketed experience.

The recipes come home with you on paper, which sounds small but isn’t. Most cooking classes send you off with vague memories and good intentions. These ones, people are apparently still making back in Australia and wherever else they flew in from.

The certificate is a bit of fun (technically qualifies you to open a Vietnamese street food stall, legally probably not). Suits people who want to actually learn something rather than just stir a wok for a photo.

Highlights

Insider Tip
Ask Ti to slow down on the herb identification at the farm - that part goes fast and it's useful when you're trying to recreate the dishes later.
