Bar Newlife
Description
Bar Newlife sits just over the An Hoi bridge from the old town – close enough to walk back after a few drinks, far enough to escape the tourist crush. It’s a rock music bar with a proper sound system, a free pool table, and cold Saigon beer at 50k. That’s basically the whole pitch, and it’s a good one.
The owner is the kind of guy who makes a place feel like a local’s spot rather than a transaction. He’s always there, always smiling, and clearly curates the music himself (expect rock, not whatever pan-flute nonsense is playing everywhere else in town).
The seating is comfortable, the fans work, and you can watch foot traffic crossing the old town bridge if people-watching is your thing. Cocktails and long drinks are on the menu too, so it’s not just a beer-and-pool situation.
Highlights
- Rock music with a curated playlist and solid sound system
- Owner is warm and present - several regulars came back every night
- Beer and cocktails priced well below what you'll pay inside the old town
- Located just outside the old town, so it's a short walk across the bridge - not ideal if you want to stay central
