BARBETTA BAR & RESTAURANT
Description
Barbetta is the cocktail bar Hoi An has needed for a while. The drinks are serious – we’re talking large clear ice cubes in Old Fashioneds, a Pho-themed cocktail that somehow works, and bartenders who clearly know what they’re doing rather than just pouring spirits over ice and calling it a night.
The interior leans into a red-heavy Chinese-Vietnamese aesthetic that sounds like it shouldn’t work but apparently does (several reviewers used the word ‘sexy’, which tells you something). There’s a terrace outside if the indoor volume gets to you, and they stay open late – late, which is rare in a town that tends to roll up the streets by midnight.
Prices sit above the local average (120k for a pina colada is Hoi An splurge territory) but you’re paying for actual craft, not just the idea of it. The crowd skews toward people who have opinions about cocktails rather than people who are just drinking to drink.
