Description

An Bang is the beach you go to when Hoi An’s old town starts feeling like a sauna with souvenir shops. It’s about 4km from the Ancient Town, easy to reach by bicycle or xe om, and the vibe is slower than anything you’ll find up in Da Nang.

The water is shallow close to shore, which makes it decent for kids or anyone who just wants to wade around without getting immediately flattened by waves. Lounge chairs run around 75,000 VND per person, though many of the beachfront restaurants will waive that fee if you order drinks (which you will, because it’s hot).

The beach has real charm on a quieter day, but let’s be honest: it’s not immaculate. Litter in the sand is a recurring complaint, and during peak season it gets crowded enough to lose that laid-back quality people come here for. Go on a weekday morning and it’s a different place entirely.

Insider Tip
Skip the southern end near the main parking area and walk 10 minutes north along the sand - the beach thins out, the vendors disappear, and the chair-to-tourist ratio drops dramatically.
Pros
- Noticeably more relaxed atmosphere than bigger beaches like My Khe in Da Nang
- Shallow water close to shore works well for kids and casual swimmers
- Lounge chairs often free with a drink order at the beachside restaurants
- Good range of food and drink options right on the beach
Cons
- Litter and small garbage in the sand comes up repeatedly, especially near high-traffic areas
- Gets crowded and loses its chill factor during peak times
- Nothing particularly distinctive about it if you've seen better beaches elsewhere in Vietnam
