An Bang Beach is best for an easy, low-commitment beach afternoon near Hoi An: spread a towel on the public sand, take a swim in the shallow water, then stay through the cooler evening. It suits families with children, casual swimmers, and anyone who wants shade and a drink close to the shore rather than a remote beach escape.
Entry is free, and you can settle anywhere on the sand. Beachfront bars rent sun loungers, though buying a drink can include a lounger; expect around 90K VND for a drink with shade. The sand is fine and the swimming area is shallow, but conditions vary along the shore, with murky brown water and litter in some stretches. Beach vendors approach regularly, so keep a firm no ready if you do not want souvenirs.
Come late afternoon, when the heat eases and the beach feels more pleasant. Skip the beachfront restaurant strip if value matters: walk about 500 metres inland for cheaper food, and do not expect a quiet or pristine Vietnamese beach experience.
