Cham Island Diving

The main dive operator running day trips out to Cham Island, about 15km offshore from Hoi An. They run discovery dives for first-timers and guided dives for certified divers, plus snorkeling for anyone who wants to stay near the surface. The wooden boat is big enough to be comfortable, with shade and enough room that you’re not sitting on top of each other (though some trips have gone out overloaded, so it depends on the day).

Instructor Clement comes up repeatedly in reviews from experienced and first-time divers alike, which tells you something. The crew generally handles nervous first-timers well – there’s a review about someone getting seasick and the team paying for their ride home, which is the kind of thing that sticks with you.

The honest caveat: Cham Island is subject to weather closures, and March in particular can see the boats blocked from landing for stretches at a time.
