Coconut Island Basket Boat Tour

A basket boat tour through the coconut palm waterways on Cam Kim Island, about 10 minutes from the Ancient Town. The 30-minute ride is calm enough that you can zone out completely, but there’s actual stuff to do – crab fishing, net throwing with local fishermen, and the optional spin (the boatman whips your basket boat in tight circles for 45 seconds, costs 100k VND, worth it).

The guides here are notably low-pressure. They tell you the base price upfront, list the add-ons (fishing, the spin, a photographer), and genuinely don’t care if you skip all of them. That’s rarer than it should be in Hoi An.

Some operators bundle the boat ride with a cooking class and a 15-minute foot massage. Bring a hat – there’s real sun out on the water between the tree canopy sections.
