A budget hotel a 10-minute walk from the Ancient Town that gets the basics mostly right. Free bicycles, scooter rental, airport shuttles, and a solid breakfast are all included or available at the desk – which is more than you can say for places charging twice the price.
The indoor pool sounds great until 7am when other guests’ kids treat it like a playground. Rooms are spacious for the money, and the staff are helpful with booking tours (the rice field bicycle tour with coconut boat comes up repeatedly as worth doing).
The damp issue is real and worth knowing about before you book. Multiple reviewers across languages mention humidity, musty smells, and ineffective dehumidifiers. Ask for a room that gets proper airflow and check before you unpack.
