SAM Retreat sits about 3km outside the old town, which means paddy field views from the front rooms and actual quiet after dark. That distance is the whole point – if you want to sleep without a street party outside your window, this is the trade-off that makes sense.

The staff consistently win people over, and the rooms come with the basics covered: fridge, AC, TV, decent size. Bicycles get you to the Ancient Town in 20 minutes; Grab runs about 40,000-50,000 VND each way if you’d rather not pedal in the heat.

Book a front-facing room on a lower floor and ask to see it before you settle in. The third floor has a documented humidity and mold problem serious enough that multiple guests have found it affecting their health – this is not a minor quirk.
