Thai Kitchen Hoi An
Description
A Thai restaurant sitting in Hoi An’s old town that actually delivers on the Thai food front – specifically the tom yum, which comes out properly sour and punchy rather than the watered-down version most tourist spots pass off. The staff will walk you through spice levels and portion sizes, and they’ll tell you to keep your noodles separate from the broth so they don’t go soggy (good advice, take it).
The air conditioning works, which sounds like a low bar but genuinely isn’t in August. Paul on the floor is worth mentioning by name – he’s the kind of server who makes a meal.
Skip the curries. Multiple tables have sent back green and red curry with the same complaint – watery, underseasoned, not close to the real thing. The tom yum is where this kitchen has its act together.

- Staff are attentive and proactive about explaining the menu, portion sizes, and heat levels
- Air-conditioned dining room
