A basket boat tour through the coconut palm forest just outside Hoi An old town. The round coracle boats are genuinely fun – your guide will spin you in circles and teach you to paddle, and at least one reviewer’s boatman threw in a folk song mid-ride (hard to script that kind of thing).

The combo package pairs the boat ride with a lantern-making class, which sounds touristy but works well as a pacing device. You get the physical, outdoor part first, then sit down with fabric and glue to make something to take home. English-speaking guides and life jackets are standard.

Morning slots are noticeably quieter – softer light through the palms and a calmer river. Works for families with kids who want the spinning chaos, couples who want the drifting-slowly version, and everyone in between.
