Kang Lóu Cocktail Bar
Description
Kang Lóu sits on the second floor above the old town bustle, and that physical distance from street level is the whole point. The bartender Hi has a genuine gift for reading what you want and building something around it – bring a specific bottle you love (the Laphroaig and Ardbeg experiments have been well documented) and let him work.
The cocktails lean creative without being gimmicky, and the ingredient quality justifies the prices, which run higher than your average Hoi An bar. Think of it as paying Saigon or Bangkok prices for the craft, not the postcode.
It’s calm enough to sit with a book for two hours and nobody will rush you out. (One reviewer literally did exactly that and apparently had a great time.) The vibe rewards people who actually care about what’s in their glass.
