Aloha Restaurant Coffee & Blue Bar
Description
Aloha sits right at the entrance to the Old Town, which makes it the most logical place to collapse after two hours of wandering in the heat. The outdoor walkway seating is the main draw – you get a front-row view of everyone filing in and out of the historic area while your beer stays cold and your ice cream melts slightly slower than expected.
The food is a lot better than a bar-adjacent menu has any right to be. Spring rolls, eggplant in garlic sauce, spicy calamari – reviewers who came in for drinks kept staying for dinner. The salt coffee is worth ordering specifically (smooth, creamy, balanced – not a gimmick).
Prices are on the slightly higher end for Hoi An, which you are paying partly for the location. The service is attentive and staff will actually guide you through dipping sauces and rice paper technique without being condescending about it.
Highlights
- Food consistently impresses people who only came in for drinks - the Vietnamese dishes in particular
- Service is quick and helpful, including practical advice on how to eat what you ordered
- Salt coffee and cold drinks hit the spot after time on foot in the heat
- Slightly higher prices than comparable spots in the area
