Chops Hoi An
Description
Chops is the place foreigners in Hoi An go when they’ve hit their pho limit and need a proper burger. The smash burgers and specialty stacks (the Swiss Bliss, the Italian Job) use decent quality meat and actually taste like someone cared about the seasoning – not a given in this town.
The vibe is loud, reliably packed with other tourists, and the open-air setup means you’re basically sitting in a warm hug from the Vietnamese heat. Go earlier in the evening if you want to avoid sweating through your meal. There’s usually live music, though the performer tends to get wedged into an awkward corner near the kitchen.
Prices are high by local standards – this is expat bar pricing, not street food pricing. The fries are a recurring disappointment (soft, not crispy, ordered separately). Order a beer, skip the fries, get a burger with the truffle and cheese.

- Staff are friendly and attentive across the board
- Good beer selection
- The space gets extremely hot - ventilation is a real problem on busy nights
- Prices are steep relative to Vietnam standards
