Hoi An Cooking Class & Basket Boat Ride
Description
Sitting right on the edge of Tra Que’s herb plots, this is one of the few cooking class setups where the produce in your dish was literally growing next to you an hour ago. Small groups are the norm here – think two or three people with dedicated instructors, not a sweaty classroom of twenty tourists. The shrimp and fish clay pots alone are worth the trip out from the old town.
At around $20 for the full experience, this is good value – especially when the full package can include a garden visit, foot massage, and lunch on top of the cooking itself. The open-air restaurant space sits in front of the vegetable garden and feels properly local rather than tourist-polished (which is the whole point).
Book via WhatsApp if you can’t navigate the Vietnamese phone number – a few reviewers flagged this as the easiest route. One small note: ask specifically about getting the recipes sent afterward, as at least one person didn’t receive them despite being promised.
Highlights
- Ingredients are fresh from the Tra Que gardens right next to the cooking area
- Full package options combine the garden, massage, class, and lunch into one afternoon
- Pricing is reasonable for what's included
- At least one reviewer didn't receive the promised recipes after the class
