Hoi an eco tour and Papa’s cooking class
Description
This is a full-day combo that starts at a local wet market, moves to bamboo basket boats on the river (with crab fishing thrown in), and finishes with a hands-on cooking class. You’re not just learning recipes – you’re sourcing the ingredients yourself and understanding why Vietnamese cooking works before you touch a wok. The market tour and boat ride are part of the experience, not filler to justify the price.
The cooking teachers – Duyen and Tram get name-dropped constantly – run tight, warm classes where the food is actually good enough to eat afterward (and there’s a lot of it). The whole operation is run by Long and his team, who handle hotel pickup and keep things moving without being pushy about it.
Fair warning: most of what you cook is fried. Not a problem, just don’t show up expecting a light lunch.
Highlights
- Bamboo basket boat ride with crab and fish fishing is a legitimate highlight, not just a scenic detour
- Hotel pickup is included, which removes the usual Hoi An logistics headache
- Market tour adds real context to the cooking class instead of just handing you a recipe card
- It's a packed half-to-full day, which is great value but not the right pick if you're short on time
