Lantern Making Class (Phuong Chau)

A small family-run workshop right on the edge of the Old Town where you actually make a silk lantern from start to finish (well, mostly finish – the frames come pre-made, which is fine). The whole thing runs about 40 minutes, costs 250,000 VND, and you walk out with something you made yourself and will probably actually keep.

The teaching is the real selling point here. Hue and Chau guide you step by step with clear instructions in English, and the reviews calling their teacher ‘the lantern doctor’ should tell you everything about the vibe. Patient, specific, genuinely fun.

This works for couples, small groups, and solo travelers equally well. It’s not a massive tourist operation – the shop is small and the sessions feel personal, which is exactly why it works.
