Mam House
Description
Mam House is doing something unusual: a fish sauce workshop that converts skeptics into people who gift nuoc mam to their entire family for the holidays. Owner Ben runs it with real knowledge and enthusiasm, walking you through flavor profiles, fermentation, and combinations you’d never think to try. It’s the kind of class where you leave with a framework for understanding Vietnamese food, not just a recipe card.
The food menu is where things get interesting and a little weird (in the best way). Sweet banh mi – tiramisu, mango, caramel puffed rice – sound gimmicky until you eat one. The fish sauce coffee alone is worth stopping in for, even if you don’t book a class.
Portions are on the small side and prices are higher than the neighborhood average, which has caught some visitors off guard. Come hungry for the experience rather than a filling meal, and you’ll leave happy.
