Phat Tire Ventures Vietnam
Description
Phat Tire does one thing better than most operators in Hoi An: the bike ride to My Son. Instead of cramming into a tour bus with forty strangers, you pedal out through rice paddies and village markets on quiet country roads, with guides who actually know when to stop and when to keep moving.
The My Son route runs around 40-80km depending on what you arrange (the round-trip option is serious mileage, so be honest with yourself about your fitness level). Bikes are solid mountain bikes, not the clunky rentals you find everywhere else, and guides like Linh, Ting, and Mike have accumulated enough goodwill to get name-checked repeatedly in reviews.
They also run canyoning and waterfall abseiling trips for when the saddle soreness gets old. The abseil guides know their rope work, which matters more than you’d think when you’re hanging off a wet cliff face.
Highlights
- Bikes are high quality and well-maintained compared to standard rentals
- Routes use quiet countryside roads and avoid busy traffic where possible
- Good food stops included, with water and breaks throughout the day
- The round-trip cycling option (76-80km) is a big day out - not a casual roll
