Quan Chay Nhat Da,vegan cooking class
Description
Linh runs a vegan cooking class out of her home that starts with a market tour – she’ll walk you through identifying ingredients, explain the philosophy behind Vietnamese cooking, and then you’ll actually make things like tofu from scratch. This is not a tourist factory where you chop vegetables and call it a day. The food you end up eating at the end is, by every account, some of the best anyone has tried in Vietnam (vegan or otherwise).
The class covers Vietnamese staples like summer rolls, white rose dumplings, and a vegan version of Hoi An’s famous chicken rice. Recipes arrive via WhatsApp after the class, and they’re reportedly well-organized enough to actually use at home. Book ahead – Linh runs small groups, which is the whole point.
Even if cooking doesn’t interest you, the restaurant itself is worth visiting for the tofu toast on organic wholemeal bread or the mango yoghurt shake. Several reviewers ended up eating here daily before deciding to take the class.
Highlights
- Recipes sent via WhatsApp after class and worth keeping
- Starts with a market tour before any cooking happens
- Food quality is exceptional - this comes up in nearly every review
- Class is at Linh's home, not a dedicated cooking school - great for atmosphere, less so if you want a polished setup
