River Square by Em’s House Hoi An
Description
River Square does Western-style breakfast and brunch better than most places trying the same thing in Hoi An. The chilli scrambled eggs are the move – multiple people have come back specifically for them – and the bagels are baked fresh every morning, which matters more than it sounds when you’ve been eating sad toast for a week.
Portions are large enough that you probably won’t need lunch (a real consideration when you’re trying to pace yourself through a day of sightseeing). It sits just outside the old town, which means slightly less foot traffic and slightly more space to breathe.
This is not the cheapest breakfast option in the area. You’re paying for quality ingredients and generous portions, and the A/C inside makes the price easier to justify when it’s 35 degrees before 9am.
Highlights
- Fresh-baked bagels every morning - noticeably better than packaged alternatives around town
- Portions are large, not cafe-large
- Staff are attentive and friendly without being hovering
- Location just outside the old town means a short walk if you're staying central
