White Rose Restaurant
Description
White Rose does one thing and does it well: bánh bao vạc, the shrimp dumplings shaped like white roses that Hoi An claims as its own. The menu is tiny (two to four dishes depending on who you ask), and that’s the point. You’re here for the dumplings and the fried wontons, full stop.
Watch the women at the front shape and fill each dumpling by hand before it goes to the steamer. The wrappers are thin enough to see through and have that slight chew without falling apart. The dipping sauce is light and calibrated, not the salty afterthought you get elsewhere.
This is a sit-down meal, not a snack stop, and the room is clean and comfortable enough that you won’t be rushing out. It runs a bit like a well-organized school canteen (meant as a compliment).
Highlights
- Fried wontons (the 'pizza' style) are crispy and genuinely different from anything else on the street
- Small menu means the kitchen is focused and the food is consistent
- Space is clean and comfortable, easy to linger without feeling cramped
- No strong mention of vegetarian options, shrimp is central to the signature dish
