Ms Phi Kitchen restaurant & cooking class
Description
Ms. Phi runs a tight operation – cooking class plus casual restaurant, all out of a small spot in the old town. The class starts with a market run, which is the part most people remember longest (there’s no better way to understand Vietnamese food than watching someone who actually cooks it navigate a local market).
Phi herself is the whole reason this works. She speaks good English, adjusts the menu for dietary needs without making a fuss about it, and somehow makes a cooking class feel like cooking with a friend rather than following instructions. Vegetarians are well catered for, not just tolerated.
The restaurant side is worth a stop even if you skip the class. The rainbow salad gets mentioned constantly, the juices are good, and the prices are low enough that ordering too much food is basically the right call.
Highlights
- The market visit adds real context that most cooking classes skip
- Strong vegetarian options, both in the class and on the restaurant menu
- Prices are low relative to what you get - multiple reviewers flag this unprompted
- The fan-cooled interior works, but it's not air-conditioned (worth knowing before a midday lunch in July)
