Vincognito Wine Bar & Italian Trattoria
Description
Hoi An has roughly zero wine bars worth visiting, which makes Vincognito an easy recommendation for anyone who’s been surviving on Saigon Beer and street food. The wine list covers both Old and New World bottles, with glasses starting around $9 – reasonable for the quality on offer. Tommy and Karl run the room well and the place stays calm even when the old town outside is doing its usual tourist chaos thing.
The Italian food is the real surprise. Pizza and pasta are done properly here, not the tourist-trap approximations you find elsewhere in town. It’s the kind of meal that helps after a long travel day (which is a low bar, but they clear it by a mile).
The building itself is quiet and set back enough from the main drag to feel like you’ve actually escaped somewhere. Bookings are worth making in advance, especially if you have a special occasion in mind – just manage your expectations around the reservation process.
Highlights
- Italian food - particularly pizza and pasta - is consistently well-executed and comforting
- Service is warm and attentive without being overbearing
- The space is calm and attractive, a real contrast to the busier streets nearby
- Not the place if you're looking for a lively night out rather than a relaxed dinner
